Singapore Night Safari

I was looking forward to visit the Singapore Night Safari. Lots of friends recommended Singapore Night Safari, which claimed to be even more entertaining than the Singapore Zoo.

In October, Singapore Night Safari is based on the Halloween theme with a twist of fairy tales. The whole concept is creative and interesting. Be prepared to get scared and have a good time there. Just before entering the Night Safari, at the area where of the ticketing counter, you will be entertained by the guys dressed up in halloween outfit to scare you out (and for you to take photos with them).

The clown is the naughty one, that will run after you after you took photos with him. The aladdin, holding a fake hand covered in blood, is not the charming aladdin we all knew from the Disney cartoon. He will come behind you and shout “WARGH” to give you a shock. Of course, you are free to take photos with them. There’s Tinman too, and I have always love Tinman. (^^)

The hunchback of notre damn looks really scary, and the one with the dim sum stall scares me out the most.. A lady screams when she was posing to take photo, and a guy’s head came out from the Dim Sum tray. You will hear shrieks and screams even before you got into the Night Safari.

After went into the entrance, you can either take the tram (if you bought the tram ticket) or you can walk around the walking path. Some of our friends chose to take the tram, where else myself and few other friends decided to walk around by foot.

There’s this so-called Horror Path where you walked through before you will go into the zoo area to see nocturnal animals. You will feel an eerie feeling once you stepped into the path. I did not manage to shoot any photo as I was scared out of my wits….

There’s this zombie (asian kind of zombie), mummee , butcher that came out from behind the trees, and a freaky guy who came out from the well.. etc. It’s an experience that you really pay to be scared away. However, you can roughly guess where they will appear according to the screams and shrieks you can hear from a distance away..

After the Horror Path, everything went calm and peaceful as just like any other nights.. and you can walk without fear of something came out from behind the trees, and enjoy watching the nocturnal animals behind the cages. However, if you happened to see something unusual came out from behind the trees after the Horror Path, do run this time.

Other friends who took the tram claimed that the tram ride was fun as well. Other guys in halloween outfit will actually came out from bushes and climbed onto your tram. Just imagine that!!

I do recommend Night Safari, especially during the month of Halloween. However, many kids cried, so perhaps you wouldn’t want to bring your kids along. As for the nocturnal animals.. I see many different kind of cats.. Perhaps I was too tired to look out for the animals in the dark, thus the most prominent ones are the cat family.

We went to the Zoo and the Night Safari in Oct, as they have the Halloween theme with a twist of fairy tales at the Night Safari. (Interesting, huh)

The ticket cost us $32 for both zoo and night safari, excluding tram ride. For those who would like to have 3 parks in one, (zoo, night safari and bird park) , the ticket will cost you $45 instead.

We went to the zoo around 2pm, which is a bit too late to see everything in there. I will advise you to go early in the morning, then you will have more time to walk around. The whole trip in Singapore Zoo was quite rush for us. We were rushing from one place to another, and we skipped the elephant show which we intended to watch initially.

Try to be at certain areas when it’s the feeding time. It is quite fun to watch (despite the crowd). We were there during the tiger feeding time.. oh gosh.. the amount they ate can last me for few days.

There’s no need for me to explain what are the animals we can see there, well, the any other animals we can see from a zoo (monkeys, baboons, all different kind of monkeys, elephants, tortoises, flying fox, polar bear, and many others ).

It was a fun experience, and I definitely will go back there again.. early in the morning this time, and to shoot some photos. =)

Next, we are heading to the Night Safari (with the Halloween theme) after our dinner!

Onsen Theme Park

onsen (温泉?) is a term for hot springs in the Japanese language, though the term is often used to describe the bathing facilities and inns around the hot springs. A volcanically active country, Japan has thousands of onsen scattered along its length and breadth. Onsen were traditionally used as public bathing places and today play a central role in directing Japanese domestic tourism.
Onsen come in many types and shapes, including outdoor (露天風呂 or 野天風呂 rotenburo or notenburo?) and indoor baths. Baths may be either public run by a municipality or private (内湯 uchiyu?) often run as part of a hotel, ryokan or Bed and Breakfast (民宿 minshuku?).

Onsen is a term for hot springs in the Japanese language, and in Japan, we can find various type hot springs baths, both indoor and outdoor. We went to the Onsen Theme Park in Odaiba, where the hot spring baths are gender separated. There are gender mix hot spring baths around in Japan as well.

In Onsen Theme Park, we are required to take off our shoe, and change to Yukata. They have several designs of Yukata for us to choose from. After changing into Yukata in the changing room,  we walk around in the park. There is a place to soak our feet in the hot spring water outdoor (you are not required to be naked at this point).

Venus Fort
Part of Palette Town, Venus Fort is a shopping mall in the style of a 18th century South European town. It features more than one hundred boutiques, shops, cafes and restaurants, targeting a mainly female audience.

Palette Town

Palette town is situated in the middle of Odaiba and is easily accessible via the Yurikamome Line rail that goes from Shimbashi to Odaba along the Rainbow Bridge.  The nearest monorail station will Odaiba-kaihinkoen or Aomi.

Palette Town, sometimes mis-spelt by many as pallete town, is a huge complex consists of Venus Fort, which is a shopping mall (will be further described below) , Toyota Mega Web, Daikanransha the second largest Ferris wheel in the world and some other attractions which I did not have time to go too.
