On Day 2, we visited few places in Sabah. Our first stop is Pekan Nabalu, a place with a beautiful view of the Mount Kinabalu. We took few photos there, and this is the stop where Eric dropped his DSLR and his camera broke! His camera is broken before we climb the Mount KK!!! Aww………….

Pekan Nabalu
Look at the mountain behind, it doesn’t look very difficult, isn’t it? LOL… wait till you read the journey of our hike.
Next, we went to Kinabalu Park, where our guide explained to us a brief history of Sabah. We were told that Sabah was once a part of Philippines, and Sabah means ‘banana’ in Philippines. That’s the reason why there are many banana trees around in Sabah. The guide showed us the Climbmaton chart as well, where a man can actually climbed to the peak of Mt KK and returned to the starting point in 2 hours and 44 minutes. That’s insanity!!!
We moved on to another stop, where we went to buy kampung adidas shoe. I didn’t buy any, and actually the shoe is quite good (according to my friends who bought it). It has strong grip and it’s cheap, only RM10 per pair. You can just throw it away after the hike.

Our next stop is to the hot spring where we had our lunch, then went for a canopy walk and hot spring. The guide is explaining to us that the bamboo contains water inside, and this is one way to survive in the jungle. Crack the middle portion of the bamboo, find a small bamboo stick as a straw to drink the water.
Next is the Canopy Walk. We had a short climb before reaching the starting point of the canopy walk. After the walk, we went to the hotspring. There is a section where you can soak in the water for free, but the hot water drips slowly. After 15 minutes, the water raised up to my ankle… just at my ankle…
However, you can choose to pay for the hot spring water, which I can’t remember how much it costs. Then you wouldn’t have to wait for the water to drip.
After the hotspring, we went to Kundasang market where we bought some fruits there. The shophouses there are wooden houses, and I have to say, it’s slightly slanted…. As in like, it might collapse anytime. I can see people wearing winter caps here, as it is almost dark and the breeze is cold. We met up with Dan here, and I am so so happy to see him. I thought he wouldn’t be able to make it for the trip but he did. I’m so glad he came after all.
We head off to Mesilau Resort and rested there for a night, preparing to climb Mount Kinabalu tomorrow.

U all go with travel agency? How much for the tour to KK Park + Poring Hot Spring? I will go to Sabah next Week.
Thank you
Regards

Hello,
We went with a freelance agent. Our package includes water rafting + Mount KK + KK Park + Hot spring, total around 1200 for 5 days.
We stayed at backpackers which cost only rm20-rm30 per night. Water rafting itself is around 180, but I’m not sure about the rest.
Are you from Malaysia or Singapore?
Thanks for info. I’m from Malaysia.
